Falling leaves during the fall season on your windshield can deteriorate your car’s value if you don’t clean your windshield the right way. It’s important to keep free from leaves not only your windshield but the entire vehicle. Falling leaves, pollen, sap, and more can seep into different corners of your car and rot, leading to rust and unpleasant smells.

During fall season it is very common to find your car covered in leaves. The good news is that keeping your windshield away from leaves to prevent your car from succumbing to leaf damage is pretty simple. 

Here some tips for removing fall leaves from your windshield

Inspect Your Windshield

Inspect the glass thoroughly and try to determine whether the debris on your glass is just leaves, whether it’s wet or dry, and, how much dust is on your windshield. If you just dive in, you might end up with more scratches than you would normally and might actually need a windshield repair or replacement. 

Remove The Leaves By Hand

When the windshield is wet, you can pick up several leaves at a time. Try not to drag debris to the corner. 

When the windshield is dry, the wind will carry most leaves and dust away. When picking up debris, be careful on a dry windshield as not to accidentally rub sharp edges against the glass. 

Dry Your Windshield

Now that everything is removed, dry your windshield with a soft cloth. Remember, there is still dust on there which can scratch glass easily. Don’t wipe the windshield.

  • Technicians are greeting customers from a social distance with a smile instead of a handshake.
  • As always, we encourage our associates to wash their hands frequently, refrain from touching their faces and to stay home if they aren’t feeling well.
  • If associates have recently traveled to a high-risk area of the world or been exposed to someone who has, we are asking them to self-quarantine for 14 days, as recommended by the CDC.
  • We have instituted strict international and domestic travel policies and postponed large in-person meetings.
  • We continue to update our associates across the country on procedures to help stop the spread of germs.
