Tips to Protect your Windshield

Tips to protect your windshield

Most drivers never think about protecting their auto glass until it’s chipped or cracked. All auto glass has vital importance, but it is imperative to note that windshields perform the crucial task of strengthening the structure of your car so it is less likely to be crushed in a rollover.

If your windshield is compromised, you’ll have less visibility and little to no protecti0n during car accidents. Without a functional windshield, cars become virtually inoperable. That’s why we are sharing this information today to provide you with easy ways to keep your windshield in optimal condition.

Auto glass fix
  • Always clean your windshield with the appropriate products.

It’s common to use the same product for cleaning residential and commercial windows and mirrors for auto glass. These products are Ammonia-based solutions. All auto glass has some manner of tint for preventing blinding glare while driving. Using these products is a big no-no because it breaks this tint down. We always recommend looking for specialized products for your auto glass.

  • No slamming doors.

Not only do passengers slam doors, but some drivers do it too. You have to know that slamming doors weakens the seal that keeps your windshield in place. Keep in mind that if your windshield has any small-sized rock chips or scratches, these blemishes are going to spread whenever the door gets slammed.

  • Avoid parking in the direct sunlight.

Extreme temperature changes have a negative impact on auto glass. Exceedingly high and low temperatures invariably cause the glass to expand and contract, which can, in turn, make minor chips and cracks grow larger. It sounds pretty simple, but anything you can do to avoid parking in the direct sunlight is worth it. It doesn’t matter if you need to walk more. Think positive! You’re doing exercise and at the same time, you’re protecting your windshield.

  • Clean Your Wipers When You Fuel Up

Cleaning your wipers when you fuel up is a great way to make a habit of protecting your windshield. It might sound like common sense, but this is something that many people never do. Even if you don’t use your wipers frequently, they’re still exposed to a lot of grime. Any type of debris can eventually lead to small scratches that can become increasingly noticeable over time. Wiping these off when you fuel up will keep them ready and in optimal conditions.

We hope these simple tips will help you take good care of your windshield. Having the windshield in good conditions takes small effort for the drivers and passengers by not slamming doors. Applying these small tips can go a long way towards extending the lifetime of your auto glass.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Keeping our people and our customers safe

As a people-first company, the health and safety of our associates and customers is always top of mind. Like many of you, we have been closely following the news and navigating these uncharted waters since first learning of the COVID-19 outbreak.

We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure that our customers and our people remain safe and healthy. We are closely following guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to prevent the spread of the virus.

Here are just a few of the tactics we are taking to protect our customers and associates:

  • We’ve increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing our technicians’ vehicles, our shops and our office locations.
  • We are providing access to sanitizing wipes and alcohol gel wherever possible.
  • Technicians are greeting customers from a social distance with a smile instead of a handshake.
  • As always, we encourage our associates to wash their hands frequently, refrain from touching their faces and to stay home if they aren’t feeling well.
  • If associates have recently traveled to a high-risk area of the world or been exposed to someone who has, we are asking them to self-quarantine for 14 days, as recommended by the CDC.
  • We have instituted strict international and domestic travel policies and postponed large in-person meetings.
  • We continue to update our associates across the country on procedures to help stop the spread of germs.

We know that many of you need service or have already scheduled an appointment with us. If you need our help or need to make changes, we are happy to provide assistance. You Can schedule your appointment or change your appointment on YLAUTOGLASS.COM

We will continue to monitor the situation closely to keep you and our associates safe.
