Driving in the rain, whether it’s a light drizzle or a heavy downpour, can be a real challenge for most of us.

Most people who haven’t been in this situation, usually new drivers,  just wait until the rain stops. No matter where you live, at some point you will be required to drive in the rain.

Do you need to go out but it just started raining? This blog post will help you learn some safety tips for driving in the rain.

Safety tips for driving in the rain

  • Before going out, make sure that your windshield wipers are working properly. If they aren’t, wait until the rain stops.
  • Turn your headlights on. While driving in the rain, keep your headlights on. They improve visibility for you and help other drivers see your vehicle.
  • Check your tires. Verify that your tires are in good condition before driving in the rain. This is crucial to prevent accidents.
  • Drive smarter. Being extra careful is a good thing when driving in the rain. We recommend that you keep your distance, slow down, and remember to expect extra traffic. It’s better to arrive late than not to arrive at all.
  •  Avoid using cruise control. It can cause your car to accelerate when hydroplaning and reduces driver attentiveness.
  • Avoid heavy braking. Slow your vehicle down by taking your foot off the accelerator earlier than you normally would in preparation to slow down.
  • Don’t forget to defog your windows. Precipitation can cause your windshield to quickly fog up. Use the front and rear defrosters to maximize visibility.

Employing these safe driving techniques can potentially save your and your loved ones’ lives. If you are one of those drivers that gets anxious about the rain, we recommend waiting until the weather improves, if possible.

Take into consideration that reducing your speed and turning your lights on are two of the simplest and most effective ways of reducing the chances of an accident caused by rainy weather.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Keeping our people and our customers safe

As a people-first company, the health and safety of our associates and customers is always top of mind. Like many of you, we have been closely following the news and navigating these uncharted waters since first learning of the COVID-19 outbreak.

We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure that our customers and our people remain safe and healthy. We are closely following guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to prevent the spread of the virus.

Here are just a few of the tactics we are taking to protect our customers and associates:

  • We’ve increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing our technicians’ vehicles, our shops and our office locations.
  • We are providing access to sanitizing wipes and alcohol gel wherever possible.
  • Technicians are greeting customers from a social distance with a smile instead of a handshake.
  • As always, we encourage our associates to wash their hands frequently, refrain from touching their faces and to stay home if they aren’t feeling well.
  • If associates have recently traveled to a high-risk area of the world or been exposed to someone who has, we are asking them to self-quarantine for 14 days, as recommended by the CDC.
  • We have instituted strict international and domestic travel policies and postponed large in-person meetings.
  • We continue to update our associates across the country on procedures to help stop the spread of germs.

We know that many of you need service or have already scheduled an appointment with us. If you need our help or need to make changes, we are happy to provide assistance. You Can schedule your appointment or change your appointment on YLAUTOGLASS.COM

We will continue to monitor the situation closely to keep you and our associates safe.
