Top reasons why you shouldn't postpone a windshield replacement

It’s very common to forget about perceived small issues with your auto glass thinking it won’t cause consequences. Drivers don’t pay that much attention to small chips or cracks on their windshields because they think they aren’t a threat. It’s never a good idea to postpone your windshield replacement – the longer you take, the more issues and expenses you may incur.

At Y & L Auto Glass, our main concern is your safety. That’s why this post is intended to help drivers learn why they shouldn’t postpone a windshield replacement.

Windshield replacement

The windshield crack or chip can grow larger when you wait to perform a windshield replacement and may result in more expenses.  Keep in mind that when driving, you can encounter debris flying around and a compromised windshield won’t resist the same impact as one in good conditions. This is quite dangerous, so make sure you get the windshield replacement done in a timely manner.

Car accidents – The least thing that a driver wants is to crash, but it’s possible and the little crack or chip that you didn’t pay attention to can be dangerous during a car accident, even when it’s a little crash.

If you postpone the auto glass replacement, you end up compromising your and your loved ones’ safety. A windshield with a chip or a crack won’t provide a reliable hold, leading to the front frame of the car breaking down quite easily. It’s true that the driver will be more prone to suffering major injuries, but the passengers can suffer an injury as well.

Another important reason why you shouldn’t postpone a windshield replacement is that if you suffer a crash, the airbags are automatically deployed. Airbags rely on the windshield’s strength as they need to press against the same to create a safe pressure. If your windshield isn’t in the best conditions, there’s nothing to keep you in place. In such instances, drivers can fall through the windshield and get hurt.

Visibility – Even small chips or cracks can become a distraction while you’re driving. They can decrease visibility and will compromise your safety, it can be worse when it’s the rainy season.

Peace of mind

It’s a fact that drivers tend to forget about minor chips but it’s also a fact that thinking about them can be a little overwhelming.

Coronavirus (COVID-19): Keeping our people and our customers safe

As a people-first company, the health and safety of our associates and customers is always top of mind. Like many of you, we have been closely following the news and navigating these uncharted waters since first learning of the COVID-19 outbreak.

We want to assure you that we are doing everything we can to ensure that our customers and our people remain safe and healthy. We are closely following guidelines released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to prevent the spread of the virus.

Here are just a few of the tactics we are taking to protect our customers and associates:

  • We’ve increased the frequency of cleaning and sanitizing our technicians’ vehicles, our shops and our office locations.
  • We are providing access to sanitizing wipes and alcohol gel wherever possible.
  • Technicians are greeting customers from a social distance with a smile instead of a handshake.
  • As always, we encourage our associates to wash their hands frequently, refrain from touching their faces and to stay home if they aren’t feeling well.
  • If associates have recently traveled to a high-risk area of the world or been exposed to someone who has, we are asking them to self-quarantine for 14 days, as recommended by the CDC.
  • We have instituted strict international and domestic travel policies and postponed large in-person meetings.
  • We continue to update our associates across the country on procedures to help stop the spread of germs.

We know that many of you need service or have already scheduled an appointment with us. If you need our help or need to make changes, we are happy to provide assistance. You Can schedule your appointment or change your appointment on YLAUTOGLASS.COM

We will continue to monitor the situation closely to keep you and our associates safe.
